Obituary for Marguerite McGlynn

Marguerite McGlynn
Marguerite of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 27 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She was 93 years young.

Marguerite was born in Norfolk, VA in 1924, the daughter of Florence and Fitz Hugh Baskette. She graduated from Grandby High School in Norfolk. Soon after, she was employed in the legal office at the Norfolk Naval Station where she met and later married Raymond McGlynn.

She moved to New York and eventually settled in Yonkers where she would raise her four sons. Marguerite was an active member of the St. Anthony Church (Nepera Park) parish community for over 60 years. She served as president of the altar society, assisted in the church office and was an energetic parent volunteer at St. Anthony School where her son Terry attended. She shared her passion for gardening and planted and maintained gardens on the church grounds.

When her sons were older, Marguerite worked for many years at the New York Convention Bureau on trade shows and conventions. She also loved to travel the United States and Europe.

She will be profoundly missed by her loving sons, Raymond of Corolla NC, Ronald of Yonkers and Terence (Ellen) of Sleepy Hollow. She was predeceased by her son Robert in 2003. She is survived by her many adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The wake will be held on Wednesday November 1 from 4-8pm and Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Anthony Thursday November 2 at 10am.
