Earl F. Simmons, lifelong Yonkers resident, passed away on July 15, 2012.  He was 87 years old.  Beloved son of  the late Anna and Frank Simmons and husband of the late Laura DeLillo Simmons.  Cherished uncle of Ruth A. Rice, Jeanne Schwabe and Michael DeLillo.  Earl was born in Amsterdam, NY, served in the US Air Force during WWII and graduated from Syracuse University.  He had a Masters Degree from Hunters College and taught theatre and speech for 25 years at Long Island University.  Prior to his teaching career, he was a character actor who acted in many theatre productions including some on Broadway.  He was an avid sports fan and was a volunteer at School 27 in Yonkers, teaching young children to read.  He loved to play very competitive Scrabble.

Calling hours will be at FLYNN MEMORIAL HOME, on South Broadway, on Friday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Saint Mary’s Church in Yonkers.  Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
